All these stories are Éomer/Éowyn, arranged alphabetically by author's name. Stories I particularly recommend are marked with a
Mother Of Horses by Hossgal. Rated NC-17, contains non-con.
"It is the custom that the new Lord makes a ride of the borders of the Mark to add a stone at each of the monuments. If the king happens to wed after he takes the crown, then he makes the journey again with his chosen wife. This is the Claiming Ride, and it binds again the Lord to the land, the man to his wife, and the Riders of the Mark to the swift steeds that carry them through the ages. The Rohan call the bride of their king the Mother of Horses."
AU. An answer to the One Ring challenge. Totally chilling. Recommended. With the author's permission, I have put up a page with her fascinating line commentary on this story. You can read it here.
Heart's Prison by Alex. Rated NC-17.
Éowyn loses those she loves and hardens her heart.
Under Pain Of Death by Alex. Rated NC-17.
This takes place in those few minutes that Éomer and Éowyn sat by Theodred's bed as he lay dying. Movieverse.
Tears by Autumn Whispers. Rated PG.
"She dreams of a cage sometimes, of a cold darkness that she cannot escape."
Éomer comforts his sister.
Close Enough by Dana. Rated R.
The attractions of home. ;)
Knotted by Dana. Rated PG.
A set of three drabbles.
More Than That by Dana. Rated PG.
Two mirroring drabbles.
Familiar by Dana. Rated NC-17.
"It had been no surprise to find him standing at her door, even in the middle of the night; it had happened often enough before. And she has seen Éomer bereft of hope, and bloodstained, and broken, and she has seen him filled with light and pride and strength as well. Now, he simply seems tired, stretched thin, and emotion smolders dark in his eyes."
Bittersweet by Deanna. Rated NC-17.
"Éomer paced the golden hall of Meduseld, his boots striking a discordant note with every step. He had been pacing and cursing under his breath ever since his latest encounter with Grima, and only when he saw his sister entering the hall in a flurry of white velvet did he cease his pacing to draw a calming breath."
Territory by Haleth. Rated NC-17.
Takes place in the year before the War of the Ring, when Grima Wormtongue's influence on King Theoden is mounting. Grima desires Éowyn, but Éomer stands in his way.
Hammer And Tongs by Halrloprillalar. Rated R.
"She watches, too, eyes ever turning to the horizon, as the sun slowly drags down the day. If a horse strays, if a hawk stoops, she sees, though she does not care. That is not why she watches."
Excellent, measured prose. Recommended.
Breaking Out by Hyel. Rated NC-17.
A dark tale of madness and obsessive love. The first story in a series that continues with Pretty Hate Machine, Crow's Rest, Equinox, and Shades.
Made Bare by Hyel. Rated PG.
"It's funny the power that she has -- even right now, with her sweaty, dirty cheeks, hair in a long tangle, wearing a lad's tunic and breeks with the collar hanging loose, showing a glimpse of soft smooth skin -- can make his breath catch, so, that he feels he might faint."
Éowyn takes Éomer's exile very hard, but Aragorn has comforting words for her. Movieverse. Fine writing and excellent use of movie canon. Recommended.
Two observers see more in Éomer and Éowyn's swordplay than meets the eye, although their opinions are quite different. Set before the War of the Ring. Recommended.
Brother/Sister by Miranda Bell. Rated NC-17.
"We cannot choose whom we love."
As Éowyn's marriage to Faramir approaches, Éomer still burns with desire for the one night he spent with her in Edoras... Note: This link goes to the first story in the series, which is a work in progress, but don't let that bother you, as each chapter is complete in itself. Recommended! (Note: For more of Miranda's fabulous writing, check out this page.)
To Ruin, Into Shadow by Valentine. Rated R.
"When she comes to him on the night after Theodred's funeral, he allows her to stay. He cannot find it in his heart to send her away. They've shared a bed as children. But they're children no longer. And surely it isn't natural that grown-up siblings should sleep together. But she needs him, and at this moment he doesn't care what people would say if they knew. He needs her, too."
The Ending Of The World by Valentine. Rated R.
"The first thing he does when he reaches the city is to go looking for her."
This story is the sequel to To Ruin, Into Shadow.
Blood Remembers by Victoria P. Rated NC-17.
"She knows one day Éomer will not come home, or he will come home mortally wounded. She refuses to believe it will be any time soon. It is simply the coming war that fills her with this dread, and she wonders if any of them will survive. Hope is a rare commodity in Rohan, and hers is riding north, into danger."
Movieverse. Very well written and believable. One of the first pieces of Lord Of The Rings fanfiction I ever read, and still one of my favourites. Beautiful prose. Recommended.
